According to the US media, the wine stock of the well known importer Billington Imports, owned by the Bartholomaus family, will be liquidated. In an article published by the North Bay Business Journal (http://www.northbaybusinessjournal.com/15195/havens-billington-wine-inventories-being-liquidated/), Jeff Quackenbush states that the Great American Group is liquidating the stock of Havens Wine Cellars, from Napa, together with other items to the value of "several hundred thousand dollars."
Lester Friedman, Executive Director of Great American Group, said to the US newspaper that the winery in Napa officially ceased operations.
Great American Group will be in charge of the liquidation of the winery as well as bulk wine, barrels, racks and intellectual property such as trademarks, permits, contracts and licenses. Friedman, who also founded and leads Great American Group, emphasized that he will try to achieve the best results.
Great American Group of Woodland Hills was hired to liquidate about 50,000 cases of Havens and Billington-imported brands; nearly 37,000 gallons of bulk wine in the Havens facility in Napa. According to the US media, most of the case goods are in Billington’s 24,000-square-foot leased warehouse at Industry West Commerce Center in Santa Rosa, with some in Virginia, where Billington was based, and Chile.
Liquidation started July 28 with Billington and with Havens last month. The sale, benefitting PNC Bank, is expected to last several weeks.
